What is D&D?

An Iconic Game Spanning Generations.

Dungeons & Dragons is the world's most popular role-playing game, originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneso in 1974.  The point of D&D is to go adventuring, not to win. Games are usually a small group of people collaboratively describing a fantasy adventure that exists in their shared imagination.

How do you play D&D online?

Roll20.net & Zoom Online Video Sessions

Of course playing D&D in person is more engaging, but playing online using Roll20's platform and Zoom to replicate the feeling of meeting in person offers many advantages while keeping the core game the same. Due to the proximity/availability of Storytellers (DMs) and considering the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, playing online is the best option now. We work with Storytellers that have TONS of experience in both D&D and working with children, so no two adventures will ever be the same no matter how many sessions you play through!

Who can play on Adventuring Portal?

ALL Tweens and Teens!

We divide players between the ages of 8 - 15 into different groups so that the age gap is no more than 3 - 4 years. Each group is kept super small, meaning only 4 - 5 people are in each session. We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers from all experience levels and backgrounds, who are LGBTQIA+, and those on any spectrum. Our goal is to share our love of this game with anyone and everyone who is interested in playing, while fostering a supportive and welcoming community for players and parents alike.

How is it different from other types of online gaming?

Real Interactions, Real Friendships!

In D&D, you can never forget about the REAL people behind the avatars they control in-game. If a member of the group makes a bad choice, you wouldn’t shout insults the way some people might if they were playing a video game online anonymously, behind the mask of the screen.

We LOVE video gaming, but D&D gaming with a group of people on shared missions is so much more fun because you get to explore and create a world together, all while depending on each other to survive.

There's More to D&D than Meets the Eye
